To be eligible for participation, each individual who utilizes the system must be involved in emergency services and/or response in a decision-making capacity. The CDS Alert Program relays vital information to decision makers who are charged with deploying personnel and resources in response to emergency life/safety situations. This includes building management personnel, fire safety directors and security managers.

After determining your needs and expectations, we will discuss your equipment compatibility. Most two-way radios can be programmed to accept the CDS Alert frequency. But, if your radio cannot - or if you do not currently own a two-way radio - we can help you obtain one. CDS does not sell radios, but we work with several CDS authorized vendors.

Each CDS Alert participant must be trained in the proper operation of a two-way radio on our network by attending a CDS Emergency Radio Certification course at any of our regularly scheduled workshops.

With the completion of the course, you will be authorized to access the CDS Alert Network. Our radio networks run independently of the internet, NYC power grid, and public landline and cell phone carriers. This advantage proved crucial during the recent events surrounding Hurricane Sandy.
